Dear Parents/Carers,

Thanks

Many thanks to all those parents who have supported the school this term by attending various ‘educational outings' The children have enjoyed and learnt from all our activities. The work you support could not happen without your generous help and for this we thank you. It has been noted by the Governing Body that many parents are taking part in the education of the children.

Thank you too to those parents who sent in their voting papers. I was disappointed to note that only 35% of the parent body sent in votes. We now have the results. The Parent Governor for the school is Mr Felix Nwakamma. The second parent for whom you voted was Mrs Phillips and she is going to be a Foundation Governor.

Science Week

The science week was very successful. The children and adults enjoyed a break for the usual curriculum. Thank you to those parents who took part in the spaghetti, egg and marshmallow build. The successful family were given a voucher for a family riding lesson. This too was donated to the school. We are very grateful for this kind response.

Pop Culture

I would like to remind parents that we do not allow hair designs or eyebrow designs. I know that this is part of the popular culture but then so too is spitting on the pavement. I am assuming that you do not want the children to follow this fashion. I feel that if we have high standards it will teach the children to be leaders rather than followers of fashion.

Physical Education gear

The children need to have physical education clothing in school on the first day of the term – Tuesday 2 May. The trainers you send as part of physical education gear need to be kept in school. In the summer term it would be better to have plimsoles instead of trainers because it will be dry. If shoes are worn or too small then plimsoles can be used.

Dinner Money

Most parents pay dinner money a week in advance. It is better not to get into arrears. The secretaries will let you know how much you owe if you ring the school.

Holiday Dates

School finishes on Wednesday 12 April at 1.30pm . The children return to school on Tuesday 2 May. Next year the Easter holidays will be the same for all schools.

SATs Week

Test week for year 6 will begin on Monday 8 May . The whole week is planned out for the year 6 children with tests and revision. Please ensure that they revise and rest during the Easter break. The years 3, 4 and 5 will also be doing QCA tests which include English, Maths and verbal reasoning. These papers support all the other data we keep on the children.

Easter Stations

The school will be in the Church at 2.45pm on Tuesday 11 April for Stations of the Cross. Year 5 will lead the service.

I wish to thank you all for your support this term. I wish you a happy and joyful Easter.

Yours sincerely,

Dympna Brotherton

Head teacher
